The Club as Self Care

To compliment my still, meditative practice, I need to dress up, go out, dance sexy, move sweaty, and rub up against strangers at least once a month. It helps me feel human, delighted, and reminds me I’m closely connected to other delightful humans. To avoid the drinking and drug culture of clubs (see previous post), these are three non-negotiables:

  1. Fantastic Music that beats ecstatic movement into my bones. Cannot do mediocre music. It feels like punishment. It makes me grumpy. DJ Dalia and @djnumeric who played the @thedrakehotel last night when we snapped this pic made me shake my body late into the night. Thank you!
  2. A dress, lipstick and sparkly jewelry. Dressing up gets me out of my intellectual head and into my senses.
  3. At least one friend, or my Cheri, who brings value including enthused dancing or jokes.

Bonus: Evening espresso before going out plus @doterra’s Peppermint Beadlets (opens airways to breathe deep and feel more awake and present) or Past Tense (Peppermint, Coriander, Basil) on my temples and neck to tingle tingle.
